AU Wins PRU Final

October 2011

American University's men's rugby team won the 2011 PRU Small College title, beating longtime rival Frostburg State in a thrilling final. The game was a hard fought contest that saw Frostburg ahead 12-0 with just ten minutes to go. AU fought back to tie the score, and in the waning seconds won a penalty in front of the posts. Captain Aaron Rogoff kicked the penalty to go ahead 15-12, and the referee immediately blew the whistle for the end of the game, giving AU an remarkable win.

AU would like to thank the Frostburg players and coaches for their part in what was just the most recent in a series of close games over the last few years.

Next up for AU will be the Mid-Atlantic Rugby Football Union (MARFU) playoffs in the Spring, where AU will compete for a chance to go to the national final in Glendale, Colorado.
