Rugby is the only real contact sport on campus. The American University men's rugby team plays in the Potomac Rugby Union (PRU) region. The fall season features matches against teams such as Georgetown, Catholic, George Washington, Navy, and Frostburg. In the Spring, we compete in the National Small College Playoffs and participate in a variety of tournaments and exhibition games. Practice is twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Fort Reno Park in Tenleytown. Games are on Saturdays, and we usually run two teams so that everyone can get playing time. It's a great way to get in excellent shape and work out your aggression. The team functions as both a sport and a social club. So if you're interested in joining, contact one of our members. Anyone is welcome to join, and no experience is necessary.
